United Voice: Spring 2018

Members, friends and allies, It has been a busy three months since our last newsletter. We have been working hard to make Wyoming Equality’s board more representative of all Wyoming regions. To facilitate this goal, we have purchased and implemented some new technology in our boardroom. We now have a zoom video-conference system. I have run a few board meetings in Cheyenne from my home in Laramie and have to say the system works great. In addition, our CRM and bookkeeping programs are in the cloud and accessible from anywhere with an Internet connection. We are excited to be a truly telecommute non-profit. With this, we have changed our bylaws to expand our board across the state of Wyoming. Our bylaws now require at least one member of the Board of Directors from each of the following regions, based on Wyoming’s 23 counties:

Before talking about Rendezvous, let me first apologize for the cancelled potluck in Casper. We had planned on having most of our board members attend to meet folks in Casper; unfortunately, plans changed, and only one board member would have been able to go. However, we still want to make this event happen! We will reschedule the potluck ASAP so we can socialize in your community and learn where we can best help.

The dust has settled on another busy pride month in Wyoming. I’m already switching gears and getting ready for our next events: Rock Spring Potluck this upcoming Friday, Rendezvous in August, and Drag Bingo in September. I’m following Sara’s lead on non-discrimination advocacy all across the state, working to advance Wyoming’s GSA Network, hiring new staff, and starting a PFLAG chapter in Laramie. Ahhhh, who needs sleep, right?

Spring is finally here and I hope you all are enjoying the nicer weather. Which makes me think about Rendezvous, which will be here before you know it. This year is our 25th anniversary and we are working hard to make this Rendezvous spectacular. So make sure you save the date August 16 – 20th and stick around one more day and travel to Wheatland, WY on August 21st to see the total solar eclipse. A once in a lifetime experience not to be missed.
