Lorinda Lindley, President of PFLAG Laramie on GSA Civics Day
Our GSA Civics Day at the state legislature is meant to educate and challenge Wyoming’s students -- it’s how we pass the torch in the fight for equality. But it’s hard to sum up in just a few words what lasting damage incurs when LGBTQ youth are confronted with incidents of homophobia and transphobia. That’s why we filed an informal complaint and we’re asking the Senate to do the right thing.
What happens moving forward will mean a lot. It will mean a lot to the thousands of LGBTQ families who need critical workplace, housing, and public accommodations protections provide. And it will mean a lot for all of us who know that in Wyoming, we value nothing more than our families and our communities.
PFLAG’s mission is to build on a foundation of loving families united with LGBTQ people and allies who support one another, and to educate ourselves and our communities to speak up as advocates until all hearts and minds respect, value and affirm LGBTQ people.
